If you’ve called FYI’s office, there’s a good chance you’ve talked to, Della Fell.

Della has been a volunteer with FYI for almost 2 years and helps with office work and answering the phone. Recently, she has extended her role with FYI to include "Chairwoman of the Board."

“FYI gives me a lift in spirit and worth, I really feel that I make a difference,” she said. “Even though I only answer the phone, add a few details to worksheets on the computer, and manage the front desk, it feels like I am important. It really feels good to know I am contributing in a very small way to impact the lives of those that need help. It gives me a reason to get up and move in the morning.”

When Della first thought about volunteering, she met with Executive Director Nikki Stefanow and FYI supporter, Pat Fraley to find out more about what FYI does and how she could help.

“If anyone is interested or thinks they might be interested they need to come to visit and get to know us,” she said. “Take a tour of our facility and see all the good work that is being done. I promise you will be surprised at all the differences we can make in the lives of those in need of our help.”

Della believes FYI is doing an important mission in the community.

“FYI tries to help all ages in numerous ways to achieve education, counseling, and caring,” she said. “All four areas of our program go the extra mile to make a difference in the lives we meet. We pray each day and keep God at work with us. I really like that we all feel the same way about the need to put God at the front of our work and lives.”

Della hopes more people will not just consider spending some time volunteering with FYI, but also tell people about what FYI does in the community.

“FYI is the best-kept secret in our community and that needs to be changed,” she said. “We could do so much more if we can reach all the people that need to know about us. We are for sure reaching a lot of kids through schools. What about the parents, the grandparents, the unwed mothers, etc. that never hear about us? Helping to get that word out is a pleasure and a challenge.”

If you would like to volunteer with FYI, call our office (and maybe talk to Della) at (937) 845-0403 or email nikki@fyiohio.org. You can find a volunteer application at www.fyiohio.org/support-us.
