We know that starting school not only presents with academic challenges, but also new social and emotional expectations. How can you help your child learn to "play well with others" and express their emotions in a healthy way?
Preparing for School Can Cause Warm Fuzzies, or Major Freakouts
Our preschool for emotional growth program is free for children ages 3-5 and utilizes Channing Bete's curriculum, Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS). Our small class sizes allow the teachers to address the unique challenges and educational goals for each individual child.
In addition to preparing your children to meet academic standards, lessons focus on teaching children how to identify and express emotions as they interact with peers in a classroom environment. Families who participate feel better prepared for the structure and expectations of kindergarten.
"I really want to thank you for the
preschool. I don't think my son would
have been ready for school if he hadn't
done your summer program."
- Tonia E., New Carlisle mom
Unlike most preschool programs, parents are required to attend class with their child. This encourages students and parents to engage in activities together while also giving parents a chance to reinforce classroom objectives at home.
Helping children communicate how they feel and how to react is a crucial part of preparing for school and life. Our belief is that by teaching children how to cooperate, respect, and care for others, that we will put them in a better position both social and academic success.
